WASHINGTON, D.C. – McDaniel won all six singles matches in straight sets to cap a 9-0 win over Trinity (D.C.) in non-conference women's tennis action on Wednesday.
Winsome Schauer (Hartford, Conn./Watkinson School) led the Green Terror (2-1) with a 2-0 day in which she did not drop a game. After teaming with Laura Pollard (Federalsburg, Md./Colonel Richardson) for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, Schauer won her No. 1 singles match, 6-0, 6-0.
Shari King led the Tigers (0-2) with 12 games won between her two matches.
Pollard also went 2-0 on the day, winning at second singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Nicole Arnold (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) added a 6-0, 6-0 victory for McDaniel at sixth singles.
Angela Johnson (Lansdowne, Md./Lansdowne) and Dana Waskiewicz (Abington, Md./Harford Technical) added wins in which they posted a 6-0 win in one of their sets. Johnson won at fifth singles 6-1, 6-0 while Waskiewicz won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.
Laura Penhallegon (Glen Arm, Md./Loch Raven) rounded out singles winners, taking No. 4 by a 6-3, 6-2 margin.
Maddy Simmons (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Tori Simmons (Bowie, Md./Bowie) notched an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
Nina Breece (Petaluma, Calif./Petaluma) and Leesa Malczewski (Denton, Md./Chesapeake) rounded out the action with a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Goucher on Friday. Match time is 3 p.m.
