EMMITSBURG, Md. – Gary Smith finished fifth in the decathlon for McDaniel at the 2013 Mount Multis hosted by Mount St. Mary's in men's outdoor track and field action on Thursday and Friday.

Smith finished with 5,112 points over the 10 events to rank fourth all-time in Green Terror program history.

Ben Munyan (Middletown, Md./St. John's Prep) joined Smith as a competitor in the field, finishing 10th with 3,016 points but had to withdraw during the eighth event. The 3,016 total points still ranks ninth in program history.

Smith's best finish came in the three running events, finishing fourth in the 100 (11.86 seconds), 400 (53.30) and 1,500 (5:05.92). Both sprint events earned him more that 600 points, earning 679 in the 100 and 669 in the 400. He earned 526 points in the 1,500.

Munyan's top finish came in the high jump, clearing 1.67 meters to finish sixth with 520 points.
