Eyler leads McDaniel in return of Twilight Meet
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Juris Eyler (Middletown, Md./Middletown) recorded a pair of individual victories to lead McDaniel at its own Twilight Meet in men's outdoor track and field action on Wednesday.
Hosting a meet for the first time since the 2006 Centennial Conference (CC) championship meet, the Green Terror brought back its twilight meet but ran the track events under the newly-installed lights of Scott S. Bair Stadium for the first time.
Eyler won the 200 with a time of 23.64 seconds and also crossed first in the 400 with a time of 52.07. The senior also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100-meter relay, which won in a time of 44.36. Eyler joined Jerome Hill (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern), Fonati Quinn (Gaithersburg, Md./Richard Montgomery) and Trevor Crest on the relay.
In addition to Eyler's two conference qualifers, Quinn added three two-time, conference-qualifying efforts. Quinn won the high jump, clearing 1.73 meters while finishing second in the long jump (6.03) and 100 (11.89 seconds).
Hill was third in the 100, hitting the CC mark with a time of 11.93.
CJ Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) won the 800 (2:02.15) and 1,500 (4:21.13) while Jake Nichols (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) was victorious in the 400 hurdles with a personal-best time of 58.46 seconds.
Nate Bell (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Erik Klugh (Millersville, Md./Penn Manor) rounded out the individual winners for McDaniel.
Bell won the discus with a toss of 35.53 meters while finishing second in the shot put (11.88) and third in the javelin (40.40).
Klugh won the javelin with a hurl of 45.60 meters while Chuck Kronmiller (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) finished second (45.26).
The Green Terror returns to action at the Mason-Dixon Invitational hosted by Gettysburg on Saturday. Action begins at 9 a.m.
