Green Terror notches four wins at Susquehanna
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Freshman Jasmine Scott
(Derwood, Md./Bullis) was part of three victories, leading McDaniel
at the 2011 Orange & Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna in
women's indoor track and field action on Sunday.
Scott notched her first two collegiate individual wins as well
as leading the 4x200-meter relay to victory. In the 55 meters,
Scott recorded the top time in the five preliminary heats with a
time of 7.68 seconds before bettering that by 0.10 seconds in the
finals to win the even by 0.22 seconds. The time of 7.58 in the
finals places her sixth on the Green Terror all-time performer
list.
She also now ranks fifth on the 200 performers list after
winning the event in a time of 27.41 – 0.41 seconds faster
than any of the other 25 competitors.
Scott teamed with Katie Corson
(Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City), Jennifer
Garnett (Los Altos, Calif./Homestead) and Sarah Byron
(Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) to turn in the eighth-fastest
4x200-meter relay, combining to win the race in a time of
1:52.90.
Corson gave McDaniel a fourth victory, winning the 400 by more
than a second with her time of 1:03.27.
Bryon, Corson and Garnett also finished in the top 10 with Centennial Conference
(CC)-qualifying times in the 200. Byron was third overall (28.05)
while Corson was fifth (28.17) and Garnett was eighth (29.14).
Garnett chipped in a fifth-place showing in the 400, crossing in
a CC-qualifying time of 1:05.73.
Lindsay
Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keough) led the distance squad
with second-place showings in both the mile (5:22.80) and 3,000
(10:34.00).
Missy
Black (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) crossed fifth in the
mile (5:50.44) and eighth in the 800 (2:40.93) while Emily Peoples
(Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) was sixth in the mile (5:54.13) and
ninth in the 3,000 (12:10.35).
Aerielle
Harris (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills) was a conference
qualifier in the 55, finishing 18th in a time of 8.39 seconds, and
the long jump, placing seventh with a leap of 4.34 meters.
Katie
Jones (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) hit a CC mark in the shot
put, finishing 14th with a toss of 8.48 meters.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Patriot Games hosted
by George Mason on Saturday.
