Blazers take top four singles flights for victory
FREDERICK, Md. – Jillian Elkaim won twice
to lead Hood to a 5-4 victory over McDaniel in non-conference
women's tennis action on Tuesday.
The Green Terror (2-8) took two of the three doubles matches,
including winning by default at third double, and had a default win
at sixth singles for a 3-1 lead but the Blazers (2-9) won the top
four singles flights to take the victory.
Elkaim teamed with Kameran Evans for an 8-6 win
at first doubles before winning 8-0 at first singles.
Emily Maerz (8-2), Laura Saad
(8-6) and Danielle Hunt (8-5) rounded out
Hood's winners at singles, respectively.
Jamie Latham (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) and
Sara Yost (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key)
teamed for an 8-6 win at second doubles while Elizabeth
McClaskey (Mt. Airy, Md.) and Becky Putnam (Mt.
Airy, Md.) were awarded the win in the No. 3 slot.
Jessica Gelber (Taquesta, Fla.) won 8-4 at
fifth singles while Putnam took the default win at No. 6.
McDaniel returns to action at home against No. 13 Johns Hopkins
on Wednesday. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
