Green Terror notch six CC qualifiers in opener at Bucknell
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Katie Corson (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City) hit a pair of Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying standards to lead McDaniel at the 2010 Bucknell Opener in women's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
In the first action of the season, Corson hit the necessary time in both the 200 and 400 at the non-scoring meet. She finished 20th overall, winning her section in the 200 with a time of 28.13 seconds and was 13th overall in the 400 with a time of 1:01.96.
Jasmine Scott (Derwood, Md./Bullis) added a qualifier in the sprints with a time of 8.45 seconds in the 60-meter dash, finishing 25th overall.
Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) and Missy Black (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) hit the CC marks in the distance events. Peoples finished eighth overall in the 5,000 with a time of 19:59.99 while Black was ninth in the mile with a time of 5:44.04.
Lindsay Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keough) added a program record in the 1,000. She finished third with a time of 3:08.56. She also added a conference-qualfiying time in the 3,000 with a second-place finish (10:40.54).
At the Dickinson Holiday Invitational, Kelsey Dickman (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) finished third in the shot put with a throw of 11.34 meters while Katie Jones (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill was 10th with a toss of 9.36.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Gulden Relays hosted by Bucknell on Jan. 8.
