COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Lindsay Wilson (Catsonville,
Md./Seton Keough) was part of a trio of record-setting
performances to lead McDaniel at the 2009 Centennial Conference
(CC) indoor track and field championships hosted by Ursinus on
Saturday and Sunday.
Wilson broke her own program record in the mile on Saturday,
posting a time of 5:14.30 to finish eighth. On Sunday, Wilson ran
the leadoff leg of the 4x800-meter relay which set another program
record, finishing sixth with a time of 9:57.89. She capped her
weekend with a fifth-place showing in the 3,000 meters, smashing
the previous mark by nearly 20 seconds with a time of 10:13.34.
Emma Nichols (Myersville, Md./Middletown),
Sarah Costa (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson)
and Jennifer Garnett (Los Altos, Calif./Homestead)
joined Wilson in the record relay to open Sunday's competition.
Kevin Bowman (Westminster, Md./Brunswick) paced
the men, finishing fifth in the mile with a program-record time of
4:23.61 on Saturday.
Bowman was also part of Sunday's 4x800-meter relay which brought
home the Green Terror's lone medal of the weekend with a
third-place finish. The time of 8:07.43 was second on the all-time
performance list, two-tenths of a second shy of the program record.
C.J. Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll),
Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) and Russell Morin (Lusby,
Md./Patuxent) joined Bowman on the relay.
Rob Kelvey (Westminster, Md./Westminster) just
missed another record, placing sixth in the 5,000 meters with a
time of 15:34.00 - 0.49 seconds shy of the program's best mark.
As a team, the McDaniel men finished eighth with 21 points.
Haverford won the title with 150 points. The Green Terror women
placed 10th with 16 points. The Fords won their fourth
consecutive crown with 162 points.
Juris Eyler (Middletown, Md./Middletown) added
an eighth-place finish in the 200 with a time of 23.74 seconds
before running the leadoff leg of the 4x400-meter relay that
finished sixth in a combined time of 3:39.61.
Crutchley, Naper and Kyle Levers (Shamong,
N.J./Shawnee) joined Eyler on the relay.
Heidi Davidhizer finished seventh in the 55
hurdles with a time of 9.28 - six one-thousandths of a second out
of sixth.
Davidhizer anchored Garnett, Nichols and Costa in the 4x400
relay that finished seventh in a time of 4:22.14.
McDaniel opens the outdoor season at the Howard C.C.
Invitational on Mar. 21.
