LEWISBURG, Pa. – Kevin Bowman (Frederick,
Md./Brunswick) finished third in the mile to lead McDaniel
at the Bucknell Opener in season-opening men's and
women's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
Bowman was the first Division III runner across the line, finishing
with a time of 4:31.07 to become one of nine Green Terror runners
to qualify for the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships in the
first outing of the season.
Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) also qualified in the mile, finishing seventh
with a time of 4:36.84.
Mark Steiding (Laytonsville, Md./Good Counsel), Dan White
(Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Bowman rounded
out those qualifying on the men's side.
Steiding hit the mark in the 200, finishing 36th with a
time of 24.57. White and Bowman crossed 8-9 in the 3,000, with
times of 9:11.22 and 9:16.98, respectively.
C.J. Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) just
missed the CC standard in the mile, crossing eighth with a time of
4:38.32. Rob Kelvey (Westminster, Md./Westminster)
finished ninth with a time of 4:42.82.
On the women's side, Emily Peoples (Wilmington,
Del./Brandywine) and Roxanne Fleischer
(Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) led the way with
CC-qualifying and personal best times in the mile. Peoples was the
first Division III runner across the line in sixth with a time of
5:37.08 while Fleischer followed her across in a time of
5:40.68.
Kristin Duling (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll)
qualified in the 200 and 400 meters with times of 28.97 and
1:02.88, respectively.
McDaniel returns to action at the Bucknell Gulden Relays on Jan.
