FREDERICK, Md. - Junior
Kaylee Comstock totaled 16 assists, five service aces, and seven digs to lead the McDaniel College volleyball team to a 25-11, 25-12, 25-15 road win over Hood Thursday night inside Volpe Athletic Center.
The Green Terror (1-0) posted their first win in the last three road matches in the series and its first in the last three season openers.
A total of 10 players had at least one kills for the visitors, led by seven from first-year
Annika Cortez who hit .353 in her first collegiate match. She also added five service aces and five digs.
Comstock and Cortez combined for 10 of the team's 17 service aces. McDaniel also totaled 11 blocks and 31 digs, led by 13 from senior
Reese Beck.
First-year
Hayden Haynes had five kills and two blocks in her collegiate debut while sophomore
Mariya Carson also had five kills.
As a team, the Green Terror hit .328 with 28 kills and only six errors.
Sophomore
Cassy Poteet had eight assists and three service aces. Senior
Abigayle Bowley led the team with three blocks, helping limit the Blazers (0-1) to a minus-.042 hitting percentage with 19 attack errors.
McDaniel makes its home debut on Saturday with a tri-match against Susquehanna and Rutgers-Newark beginning at 11 a.m.
