VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Junior
Anna Buyse scored her second goal of the game in the second overtime to lead the McDaniel College field hockey team to a 3-2 road victory over Batten on Saturday.
It was the second-straight win for the Green Terror (3-4) and their second in the last three on the road.
Buyse recorded the game-winning goal for the second consecutive game as she scored with just four seconds left in the second overtime off an assist from junior
Kathryn Morin. Buyse also scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Wilkes last Saturday inside Gill Stadium.
After a scoreless first quarter, McDaniel broke through less than four minutes into the second as Buyse scored off a feed from sophomore
Caydence Stone.
The Marlins (5-4) had three shots in the second, but all three were turned away by senior
Lora Scarangello as the visitors led 1-0 at halftime.
The Green Terror maintained its one-goal lead through three quarters, but Batten tied the game just 39 seconds into the fourth to tie the game at 1-1.
Junior
Charley Noah put McDaniel back in front on a penalty stroke goal with less than four minutes remaining, her team-leading fourth goal of the season, but the Marlins got the equalizer for the second time with just one second to play in regulation to force overtime.
Batten outshot McDaniel 4-2 during the first overtime and had three penalty corners, but could not find the game-winner.
The Green Terror registered all five shots in the second overtime and earned nine penalty corners before Buyse netted her third goal of the season to secure the team's third win of the season.
Scarangello finished with eight saves, including four in the first overtime as McDaniel remained undefeated in five all-time meetings against the Marlins since 2001.
The Green Terror travel to No. 8 Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday for a Centennial Conference contest that starts at 7 p.m.
