NEW ORLEANS, La. - The McDaniel College women's track & field team was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an All-Academic Team for the fourth-straight year.
To be honored as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a team must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.1 or higher through the spring semester.
In addition, junior
Sophia Leone was honored as an All-Academic Athlete for the 2026 season.
To earn All-Academic Athlete honors, a person must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 through the most recently completed grading period and must have finished the season among the top 50 individuals OR one of the top 35 relay teams on the descending order lists on TFRRS. Any individual who don't meet that criteria, but who participated at the NCAA indoor OR outdoor championships are eligible.
Leone is a
major with a 3.340 GPA who also received All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors from the USTFCCCA. She ranked sixth in the region in the pole vault with a program record mark of 3.65 meters set at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at McDaniel on May 9. She finished second which was the 43rd-best mark in Division III this season.
