Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 17 Washington College at Home

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Washington College scored 15 unanswered goals to overcome an early deficit as the 17th-ranked Shoremen posted an 18-3 win over the McDaniel College men's lacrosse on Wednesday inside Gill Stadium.

The Green Terror (5-8, 0-4 CC) jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the game's first five minutes behind goals from junior Cash Stanton and first-year Alex Salerni.

However, Washington College responded with the game's next 15 goals to take a 16-2 advantage with 7:22 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Shoremen, who are ranked second in the conference in points per game and third in goals per game, have scored at least 15 goals in six out of there 13 games this season, posting a 4-1 record when they do. They totaled 55 shots, including 26 on goal, while scoring on 4-of-5 extra-man opportunities.

Peyton Gestole is ranked fifth in the conference in points per game this season and finished with seven today with three goals and four assists.

Junior Aidan Skelly, the third leading scorer for McDaniel with 11 goals and 16 points this season, scored the third goal for the Green Terror with 3:33 left in the fourth, his first goal in his last three games.

Junior Gabe Wallman totaled eight saves and five ground balls.

McDaniel hosts Swarthmore in its penultimate home game of the season on Saturday. Face-off is set for 3 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the women who also host the Garnet.

Swarthmore marks the fifth of seven Green Terror opponents, including fourth out of six in-a-row, who are either ranked or receiving votes in the USILA Division III Coaches Poll.
