Stanton Leads 10 Goal Scorers in 12-3 Road Win at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. - First-year Cutter Stanton scored three goals to highlight 10 different goal scorers as the McDaniel College men's lacrosse team posted a 12-3 win at Marywood on Wednesday.

The Green Terror (4-2) picked up their second consecutive win and third in four road games this season. The win came almost 10 years to the day of the last meeting between the two teams, an 8-7 road win for McDaniel on March 5, 2016.

Stanton netted his second career hat-trick as he finished with three goals and three ground balls. He also had three goals in an 11-9 road win over Juniata in the team's season opener.

Stanton was the only Green Terror to score multiple goals and nine others had one goal each. A total of 11 players had at least one point with first-year Colin Fox tying Stanton with a team-high three points with one goal and two assists.

Junior Carter Youtz, junior Aidan Skelly, and first-year Alex Salerni each had one goal and one assist while junior Reagan Wilson had two assists. Senior Trent Hillis, first-year Will Swiatek, and first-year Blake Smith each recorded their first career goals.

Junior Leo Hale led the defense with four ground balls and three caused turnovers while junior Gabe Wallman also had four ground balls to go along with 12 saves, his fifth game out of six this season with at least 10 saves.

Hillis scored the first goal of the game just over four minutes in to kick start a three-goal run for McDaniel who led 3-1 after the first quarter. Each team added one second-quarter tally as the visitors held a 4-2 advantage at halftime.

Wallman totaled nine of his saves in the first half, including seven in the first quarter.

The Green Terror scored all six goals in the third quarter to stretch their lead to eight with Stanton netting the first two.

The Pacers (2-3) scored its third goal less than two minutes into the fourth, but Stanton answered with his third goal before Youtz capped the scoring with a man-up goal with under four minutes remaining.

McDaniel went 2-for-5 on its extra man opportunities and is 4-for-8 over its last two games after starting the season 2-for-12.

The Green Terror hosts Greensboro for Senior Day on Saturday at 5 p.m.
