GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Senior
Elaina Beckett hit a career-high five three-pointers en route to a game-high 25 points to lead the McDaniel College women's basketball team in a 60-52 road loss at Gettysburg on Wednesday.
The Green Terror (18-6, 7-6 CC) sit in fifth place in the Centennial Conference standings, half-a-game ahead of Franklin & Marshall and Washington College. McDaniel has already clinched a spot in the 2026 Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Championship with one regular season game remaining.
Beckett surpassed Kathi Snyder '99 to move into third on the program's all-time scoring list. She has scored 1,398 career points, tying her with Lindsey Nichols '16 for third place. Beckett accomplished the same amount in 19 fewer games. She is now 179 points behind Cindy Boyer '87 in second place.
The Green Terror started strong in the first quarter, opening the game on a 14-5 run before three consecutive baskets from the Bullets cut their deficit to three after the first quarter.
Gettysburg (18-6, 11-2 CC) tied the game at 14-14 to begin the second quarter, but sophomore
Lauren Cavoli broke the tie with a three-pointer at the 6:46 mark.
McDaniel increased the lead to five following a pair of Beckett free throws, but the Bullets rallied to take a 20-19 lead with 3:35 remaining in the half. A Beckett three-pointer put the visitors ahead by four with 2:09 to go but Gettysburg again answered, scoring the final five points of the half to take a 27-26 halftime lead.
The Bullets opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run to increase their lead to seven, but the Green Terror battled back to tie the game at 39-39 following a Cavoli layup with 1:22 to play. A Bullet basket with 41 seconds in the quarter broke the tie heading into the final quarter.
A Cavoli jump shot tied the game again at 45-45 with 4:13 left in regulation, but the Bullets answered with five consecutive points. The Gettysburg lead grew to nine in the final minutes as the Bullets connected on all eight of their free throws down the stretch.
Beckett scored a game-high 25 points, connecting on 5-of-11 three-pointers, and totaling six rebounds and four steals. Junior
Raegan Lenz also finished in double figures with 13 points while tying her career-high with seven blocks. Cavoli added nine points and five assists.
The Green Terror conclude the regular season on the road against Muhlenberg on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
