Haverford Pulls Away From Field Hockey on Homecoming

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Haverford scored three unanswered goals over the final three quarters en route to a 4-1 victory over the McDaniel College field hockey team on Saturday at Gill Stadium for Homecoming.

After the Fords took an early 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, the Green Terror (3-6, 0-2 CC) tied it on a blast by junior Charley Noah from the top of the circle six minutes later.

It was Noah's team-leading fifth goal of the season as she has now scored in three of the team's last four games. All five of her goals this season have come in the last six games.

Each team scored on their only shot of the first quarter as the game was tied at 1-1 after one.

Like the opening quarter, Haverford (6-5, 2-1 CC) struck quickly, retaking the lead with their second goal just two minutes into the second. The goal came off a rebound and started a stretch of three-straight for the Fords who outshot McDaniel, 12-2 over the final 45 minutes.

Four different players scored for the visitors who held a 6-2 advantage in penalty corners and allowed just three shots.

Senior Teaghen Rieder had five saves in her second-straight start for the Green Terror.

McDaniel begins a two-game road trip on Wednesday when it heads to Washington College for a 4 p.m. contest with the Shorewomen.
