Mason Scores Career High, McDaniel Wins Fourth-Straight

CRESSON, Pa. - McDaniel College women's basketball sophomore Kendra Mason tied her career with 11 points to highlight a convincing 76-32 non-conference road victory over Mount Aloysius on Saturday.

With 11 wins in their first 12 games, including four-straight, the Green Terror (11-1) are off to their best start to a season in the program's 67-year history.

McDaniel, who ranks second in the Centennial Conference in scoring defense and scoring margin, have held eight of its 12 opponents under 50 points, including four under 40.

Mason made her first start in 29 career games and went 4-for-6 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from three-point range. She also added three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Senior Elaina Beckett continued her strong start to the season, finishing with 19 points and eight rebounds, both game highs. She was 6-of-10 from the floor, 2-of-3 from behind the arc, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line.

Beckett leads the Centennial Conference in scoring and field goal percentage and now has 1,264 career points, the 12th-most in program history. She is just four points behind Kristy Costa '06 for 11th all-time.

Sophomore Lauren Cavoli also had 11 points and a career-high three three-pointers.

As a team, the Green Terror made 10 three-pointers, two shy of their season high set against Notre Dame (Md.) on November 19.

Mason scored all 11 of her points in the first half as McDaniel led 39-10 at halftime. Beckett added nine and Cavoli had eight as the trio combined for 28 of the team's 39 points.

McDaniel limited the Mounties (3-7) to just three field goals as they went 3-for-20, including 0-for-10 in the second quarter. Leading 21-7 after one, the visitors outscored Mount Aloysius 18-3 in the second.

The Green Terror scored 34 points off 25 turnovers.

First-year Riley Waite scored a career-high eight points in 10 minutes off the bench, finishing 3-of-3 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. McDaniel finished with 26 bench points.

The national leader in blocked shots, junior Raegan Lenz had three more against the Mounties and now has 47 this season. With one more, she will move into the top-10 for a single-season in program history. She also had five points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

The Green Terror host its 11th and final non-conference contest of the season on Wednesday against in-state rival Salisbury. Tip-off is at 5 p.m. on Rebecca L. Martin Court.
