McConnaha’s Career Night Leads McDaniel in Loss to Gettysburg

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Junior Teya McConnaha connected on 5-of-6 three pointers en route to a career-high 24 points in a 65-60 loss for the McDaniel College women's basketball team versus Gettysburg on Wednesday at the Gill Center.

McConnaha bested her previous career-high of 22 points set against Geneva on Nov. 9, 2024 in the championship of last season's Rebecca Martin Memorial Tip-Off. The contest marked her first 20-point scoring output of the season for the Green Terror (15-3, 4-3).

The Bullets (14-5, 7-1) opened the game on a 6-0 run but consecutive three-pointers from McConnaha tied the score 8-8. The lead changed hands twice in the final two minutes of the opening quarter with Gettysburg taking the lead on a last-second jumpshot, 16-14.

McDaniel again drew even 19-19 following a free throw from senior Elaina Beckett, later taking a one-point lead after a three-pointer from sophomore Lauren Cavoli. A 10-0 run from the Green Terror pushed McDaniel's lead to nine, but another buzzer-beating basket from the Bullets made the score 34-27 at the break.

The Green Terror increased their lead to 11 midway through the third quarter, but Gettysburg rallied with a 9-0 response to cut the deficit to one at the end of three, 47-46.

The Bullets took their first lead of the second half with 6:31 to play in the fourth, preceding a sequence that saw the lead change hands four times over the next four minutes. A Gettysburg three-pointer with 2:04 left gave the visitors a lead they wouldn't relinquish as the Bullets nailed free throws down the stretch for the final margin.

McConnaha led all scorers with 24 points with a career-high five three-pointers. Cavoli chipped in with 17 points and six assists while Beckett scored nine. Junior Raegan Lenz totaled four assists and three blocks in the defeat.

Gettysburg controlled the boards 39-32 and scored 15 points on second chance opportunities. McDaniel connected on seven three-pointers and scored 16 points off 12 Bullet turnovers.

The Green Terror travel to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday for a road battle with the Diplomats. Tip-off is set for 1 pm.
