CARLISLE, Pa. - Junior
Teya McConnaha totaled her second double double of the season to lead the McDaniel College women's basketball team to a 69-27 Centennial Conference road victory over Dickinson on Wednesday at the Kline Center.
The Green Terror (14-1, 3-1 CC) atoned for their lone loss of the season in a rematch with the Red Devils who won the first meeting between the two teams on December 3Â in Westminster, 59-57.
McDaniel limited Dickinson to just nine baskets on 57 attempts and scored 18 points off 15 Red Devil turnovers. The visitors also held a 49-31 advantage in rebounds, grabbing 13 on the offensive end which led to 19 second-chance points.
McConnaha had 10 points and a career-high 17 rebounds for her 10th career double double. Sophomore
Lauren Cavoli scored 17 points, her 10th game this season in double figures and fifth-straight. Senior
Elaina Beckett had 12 points, extending her double digit scoring streak to 22 games. She has scored at least 12 points in all 15 games this season.
Beckett, who became just the ninth player in program history to score 1,300 career points in Saturday's win over Franklin & Marshall, surpassing Becky Martin '80 and Barb Wolf '90, now has 1,316Â points in 85 games, moving her past Kelly Cramp '05 and into seventh place. Jill Ibex '01 is next on the list in sixth place with 1,330 points while Jen Piccolomini '03 is fifth with 1,336.
Junior
Raegan Lenz totaled seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
The Green Terror led 17-11 after the first quarter before outscoring Dickinson 50-18 over the final three quarters to hand the Red Devils (9-6, 3-1 CC) their first loss in four conference games this season.
Cavoli scored eight of her game-high 17 points in the second quarter as the visitors outscored Dickinson 16-4 to take a commanding 33-15 halftime lead. Beckett added eight points while the Red Devils missed 14 of their 16 shot attempts.
McConnaha scored eight of her 10 points in the third quarter as McDaniel outscored the Red Devils 18-5 to stretch its lead to 51-20.
The 29 points allowed by the Green Terror were the fewest they have surrendered since a 73-29 victory over Bryn Mawr at home on Feb. 4, 2023. The held the Owls to just 9-of-58 shooting, including 1-of-24 from three-point range.
McDaniel begins a three-game home stand on Saturday when it hosts Swarthmore for a 2 p.m. tip-off on Rebecca L. Martin Court. The Green Terror have won two-straight against the Garnet, but are looking for their first win at home in the series since Jan. 16, 2019.
