WESTMINSTER, Md. – Sophomore
Teaghen Rieder collected four saves in the cage as the McDaniel College field hockey team fell to No. 19 Franklin & Marshall 6-0 on Tuesday night at Gill Stadium.
Rieder's four saves tied her season-high mark set back on Aug. 30 in a road contest with Randolph-Macon in the season opener.
The Green Terror (4-5, 0-2) fell behind in the first quarter after the Diplomats (7-2, 2-1) scored off a penalty corner just past the opening minute. Franklin & Marshall would tack on two more goals before the period ended to increase the lead to 3-0.
The Diplomats missed their first three shot attempts of the second quarter before adding a fourth goal in the 21
st minute.
After Rieder and the Green Terror held the Diplomats scoreless in the third, Franklin & Marshall scored twice in the fourth to cement the road win in conference play.
Rieder played all 60 minutes in the cage for the Green Terror, but Franklin & Marshall controlled the pace of the game. The Diplomats took 25 shots and 13 in the fourth quarter, after shooting only 12 times in the first three quarters combined.
McDaniel will look to rebound on the road against Centennial Conference rival Haverford on Saturday at 12 pm.
