WESTMINSTER, Md. - Junior
Charlie Olson scored the game-winning goal in the seventh minute to lift the McDaniel College men's soccer team to a 1-0 home win over conference rival Ursinus on Saturday.
The Green Terror (7-0-1) extended their unbeaten streak by recording their sixth shutout of the season. The team's 7-0-1 record is their best through eight games since the 2019 season, when they started 8-0.
Olson netted his team-high fifth goal of the year and second game-winning goal with a shot outside the 18 just before the seven-minute mark on an assist from senior
Chase Osborn.
McDaniel faced seven shots in the first half from the Bears (2-4-2), three of which were saved by junior
Tate Roth. First year

Mike Mevo both had shots saved by the Bears to keep the score 1-0 at the half.
Ursinus again took seven shots in the second half, and all but two of them missed wide of the net. Following two yellow cards against the Bears, Roth recorded his fourth and final save of the day on a shot in the 63
rd minute. Two final shot attempts from the visitors missed wide in the final three minutes of play to seal the win for the Green Terror.
McDaniel took a total of eight shots with four of them being on goal. Shots on goal were taken by Olson, Mitchell, Mevo, and sophomore
Jack Guerrera. Roth complied four saves in the cage on 14 shots faced.
Ursinus out-shot McDaniel 14-8 but could only find four shots on goal. McDaniel held a slight edge in corner kicks, 7-5. The game featured 27 combined fouls and five combined cards.
The Green Terror are home again on Tuesday with a 4 pm kickoff against Johns Hopkins.
