Men’s Soccer Records Fifth-Straight Shutout in Win over Randolph

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Two first half goals and another shutout from junior Tate Roth propelled the McDaniel College men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Randolph on Saturday from the Soccer Complex.

The Green Terror (5-0) have remained unbeaten through five matches for the second time in three years and have won their first five games of the season for the first time since 2022.

First year Kristerson Mitchell scored his first career goal in the 27th minute off a corner attempt to give McDaniel the lead. The Wildcats countered moments later with a shot that was saved by Roth to keep the Green Terror in front.

Following a Randolph foul, McDaniel tacked on a second goal on a free kick from senior Noah Rodriguez, finding senior Chase Osborn in the box for a top-shelf goal to make the score 2-0 with just under three minutes before intermission.

Later in the 72nd minute, senior Conor O'Brien netted his second goal of the season, receiving a through ball from first year Nicholas Clarke and scoring in the left corner to give the Green Terror its second consecutive 3-0 victory.

Roth faced seven shots in the cage and saved two, keeping Green Terror opponents scoreless through five matches. McDaniel has outscored its opponents 12-0 through the first five contests of the season, allowing only 31 shots in that span.

The Green Terror held a 15-7 advantage in shots over the Wildcats, limiting the visitors to only three shots in the second half. The game featured six yellow cards and 23 combined fouls between the two teams.

McDaniel will look to keep its unbeaten streak alive on Tuesday when local rival Goucher makes the trek to Westminster. Start time is at 4 pm from the Soccer Complex.
