Olson Scores Twice, McDaniel Extends Shutout Streak to Four

READING, Pa. - Junior Charlie Olson scored his first two goals of the season as the McDaniel College men's soccer team posted a 3-0 road win over Albright Wednesday night at Shirk Stadium.

Playing for the first time in seven days, the Green Terror (4-0) limited the Lions to just four shots while picking up their fourth shutout of the season. They extended their shutout streak to 360 minutes, outscoring their opponents 9-0 during that time.

With four-straight wins to open the season, McDaniel is off to its best start since 2022 started the year with five consecutive wins, including four shutouts, outscoring opponents, 11-1.

Olson posted the first multi-goal game of his career while netting the seventh and eighth goals of his career.

Following a scoreless first half, Olson scored the game-winning goal just eight minutes into the second on a shot into the lower left corner.

After leading the team with three assists last season, sophomore Jack Guerrera netted his first career goal in the 78th minute before Olson struck again in the 89th minute with just 1:04 to play to provide the final margin.

The Green Terror held a 9-4 advantage in shots with six shots on goal. Meanwhile, none of the four shots for the Lions (2-1) were on target. The game also featured 28 fouls and four yellow cards, all on Albright.

In the first meeting since 2019, McDaniel improved its all-time record against the Lions to 6-0-1 in a series that dates back to 1999.

Sophomore Tate Roth was not required to make a save in picking up his third shutout of the season and his 14th in 23 career starts.

The Green Terror return home to face Randolph at the Soccer Complex on Saturday. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. Prior to the game, the team will honor some of its alumni from the 1980s who played under head coach Steve Easterday.
