WESTMINSTER, Md. - The McDaniel College women's soccer team limited Rutgers-Camden to just one shot in its home opener Sunday, battling to a scoreless draw at the Soccer Complex.
The Green Terror (1-0-1) posted their second shutout in as many games this season and their 51st in 83 games since 2021. The team also improved to 31-5-5 in 41 home games during that time.
McDaniel held a 5-1 advantage in shots with three on goal, but all three were turned away by the Scarlet Raptors' Giselle Lizardi. A fourth attempt was blocked by the Rutgers-Camden defense.
Five different players registered a shot for the Green Terror, the best of which came from first-year
Alaina Miller who registered the game's first shot in the 18th minute from just outside the goal box.
An attempt by junior
Alexis Keller-Posen in the 59th minute, the final one of the game, from the top of the penalty box was saved by Lizardi.
Sophomore
Mack Langlo saved the lone shot by Rutgers-Camden's Ava Stowell in the 62nd minute, recording her second career shutout in two starts.
McDaniel held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks in the first-ever meeting between the Green Terror and Scarlet Raptors (0-1-1).
McDaniel hits the road for the second-time this season on Wednesday when it heads to Ashland, Va. for a 5 p.m. kickoff at Randolph-Macon.
