LEXINGTON, Ky. - Senior
Sean Kelly carded a career-best, 3-under par 69 in the second round while the McDaniel College men's golf team holds the 36-hole lead in the Transy Fall Invite on Saturday at the University Club of Kentucky.
As a team, the Green Terror hold a six-shot lead over second-place Rose Hulman following a 4-under par 572 which included a back-to-back score of 286 in each round.
McDaniel's rounds of 286 were the lowest for the team since it totaled a 285 in the second round of the Transy Fall Invite a year ago. The Green Terror also totaled a 282 in the second round of the same event on Sept. 2, 2023.
Individually, McDaniel has three of the top four spots on the leader board, led by senior
Charlie Dolan who carded a two-under par 70 in both the first and second round, totaling nine birdies and 23 pars to total a 4-under par, 140. He currently sits in the second place.
Kelly and senior
Ethan Crabb are tied for third as each totaled a 2-under par 142. Kelly rebounded from a 1-over par, first-round 73 with a career-best, 3-under par 69 in the second. He had five birdies and 11 pars, including four birdies over his final 10 holes. His previous career-low was a 70 in the second round of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on Oct. 6, 2024.
Crabb carded a 1-under par 71 in both rounds with eight birdies and 22 pars.
Playing in his first collegiate event, first-year
Dylan Muso currently sits in a four-way tie for 23rd with a 4-over par 148 which included an even par 72 in his first collegiate round.
First-year
Gavin Pychinka also made his collegiate debut, carding a 79 in his first career round.
The third and final round of the Transy Fall Invite gets underway on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
