The Green Terror (15-16-1, 6-5 CC) secured their first win against a nationally ranked opponent since April 6, 2019, when the team defeated No. 6 Swarthmore, 10-5.
The Bullets opened the contest with a three-run homer in the first inning, taking a quick 3-0 lead. Gettysburg added another run on a wild pitch to lead 4-0 after two frames.
Dean turned the game on a three-run triple in the fourth that scored freshman
Thomas Mezzullo, sophomore
Shea McKenna and sophomore
Ethan Haddock. Junior
Matt Fuller then laced a single up the middle to score Dean and tie the game, 4-4.
Gettysburg (24-9, 3-8 CC) responded to McDaniel's four-run fourth with a six-run frame in the bottom half. A fielding error scored the first run and gave the Bullets the lead back, 5-4. An RBI single added an insurance run for the Bullets, and back-to-back RBI base hits increased the Gettysburg lead to 8-4. An RBI ground out followed by an RBI double plated two more runs, giving the Bullets a 10-4 lead at the end of four.
McDaniel answered with another outburst in the fifth, scoring three more runs to draw within three. Haddock hit an RBI single to third base that scored freshman
Henry Novario, and a two-run double from McKenna scored Haddock and junior

The Bullets added another run on an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, but the Green Terror plated four more runs in the sixth to draw even with Gettysburg. Haddock hit an RBI single to score graduate student
Joey Hubinger, then Mezzullo blasted a two-run single into right field to score Haddock and Novario. Dean earned his fourth RBI of the day on a ground out to score McKenna and tie the game, 11-11.
The tied score held until the top of the seventh, when McDaniel took the lead after strong base running from senior
Shane Daly. Daly led off the inning with a single and a stolen base, advancing to third on a sacrifice. Daly then scored on a wild pitch to give the Green Terror a 12-11 lead.
McDaniel only allowed one base hit to the Bullets over the final two frames to close the door on Gettysburg, securing their first win over a ranked opponent since 2019.
Dean finished the day with two base hits and a career-high four RBIs in the win. McKenna and Mezzullo each had three hits and two RBIs while Haddock went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Fuller had an RBI hit while Hubinger, Novario, Davis and Daly all had base hits in the win.
