WESTMINSTER, Md. – Graduate Student
Joey Hubinger broke the program record for career base hits as the McDaniel College baseball team swept a Senior Day doubleheader with Franklin & Marshall on Sunday from Preston Field.
Hubinger secured his 217
th career hit with a single in the second inning, surpassing Nick Valori '17 for the most base hits in program history. Valori had 216 hits from 2013-16.
The Green Terror (14-15-1, 5-4) swept a doubleheader with the Diplomats (17-14, 3-6) for the first time since Apr. 6, 2014, winning both games on the road.

McDaniel 8, Franklin & Marshall 6 (Game 1)
The Green Terror scored all eight runs of the opening game across the first three innings, plating three in the first. Junior
Ben Davis opened the scoring with an RBI single to score Hubinger, and Davis advanced on a throwing error that allowed freshman
Henry Novario to score. An RBI single from sophomore
Ethan Haddock then scored Davis to give McDaniel a 3-0 lead after one.
A 1-2-3 top half of the second paved the way for two more runs for McDaniel in the bottom half. Hubinger's record-breaking single placed two men on base, and Haddock cashed in with a two-run single to score Novario and Hubinger, making the score 5-0.
Franklin & Marshall broke out with a five spot in the third inning, tying the game midway through the frame. McDaniel responded with three more runs in the bottom of the third, as Novario earned an RBI on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded to start the scoring. Davis reached base on an error to score sophomore
Patrick Kelly and Hubinger later scored on a balk to give McDaniel an 8-5 lead at the end of three.
A sacrifice fly plated one more run for the Diplomats in the fourth as the bullpens took over for the final five innings. McDaniel relievers only allowed eight baserunners across the final five frames and Kelly induced a 1-2-3 inning out of the Diplomats in the ninth to secure the win in the opener.
Haddock's three RBIs led the team at the plate while Hubinger has a three-hit game in the leadoff spot. Davis went 2-for-5 with two RBIs while Novario collected an RBI and scored two runs. Sophomore
Jake Young earned the win in relief, allowing one earned run while walking three batters.
McDaniel 5, Franklin & Marshall 3 (Game 2)
The Green Terror again started strong in the second game of the twin bill, scoring four runs in the first inning.
An RBI double from Davis scored Hubinger to give McDaniel the early lead. Haddock then singled through the left side to score sophomore

Thomas Mezzullo kept the hot streak going as the next batter, hitting another RBI double to score Davis. Sophomore
Quinn Dean capped off a four-run first with an RBI groundout.
Novario pushed the Green Terror lead to 5-0 in the fifth on an RBI single that scored Daly, advancing into scoring position on the throw. Franklin & Marshall plated one run in the sixth inning on an RBI fielder's choice to make the score 5-1.
A two-run seventh brought the Diplomats to within two, scoring on an RBI single and a groundout into a double play. Franklin & Marshall put four runners on base in the top of the ninth but could not score any as the Green Terror ended the game on a fielder's choice.
Haddock had two base hits in the game two win, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Novario, Davis, Mezzullo and Dean all had RBIs while McKenna and junior
Matt Fuller reached base with a hit.
Freshman
Brady Harach earned the win, pitching three innings and striking out four while walking two and allowing no earned runs. Sophomore
Dominic DiBlasi pitched three innings in relief, recording three strikeouts and allowing only one run.
McDaniel travels to Baltimore on Monday to face No. 2 Johns Hopkins in a rescheduled game from Friday. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm.
