WESTMINSTER, Md. – The McDaniel College baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader with No. 21 Rowan by identical 9-2 scores from Preston Field on Saturday.
The Green Terror (2-5-1) faced off against the Profs (4-1) for the first time in program history. Rowan pitchers controlled both wins, combining for 24 strikeouts and giving up only nine base hits.
Rowan 9, McDaniel 2 (Game 1)
McDaniel battled with Rowan for much of the opener until a grand slam in the sixth inning broke the game open for the Profs.
Rowan got on the scoreboard first after a bases-loaded walk. The Green Terror knotted the game at 1-1 in the third off an RBI single from junior
Ben Davis. Rowan tacked on two more runs in the fifth before McDaniel responded in the bottom half of the inning. Junior

Joey Hubinger and draw the Green Terror to within one, 3-2.
A bases loaded hit by pitch drove in another run for the Profs before Rowan doubled its lead to 8-2 with a grand slam by Phil Sedalis in the sixth inning. An RBI single in the seventh closed the scoring in game one as Rowan held McDaniel scoreless in the final four frames.
Davis led the way at the plate for the Green Terror, going 2-for-3 with and RBI and a walk. Fuller's RBI double and a triple from sophomore
Shea McKenna gave McDaniel three extra-base hits for the game.
Junior
Tyson Nercessian got the start for McDaniel, walking three batters and striking out one while giving up two hits and one earned run in three innings. Sophomore
Aiden Castile took the loss in relief, giving up five base hits and six earned runs. Sophomore
Jake Young finished the final 3.2 innings of the contest, allowing two earned runs and striking out one.
Rowan 9, McDaniel 2 (Game 2)
A four-run first inning got the Profs on the board early. A fielder's choice brought in another run in the third before Rowan tacked on another run after a throwing error.
McDaniel mounted a small comeback in the sixth, capped off by an RBI triple from McKenna to cut the deficit to 7-2. But Rowan responded by scoring two runs in the eighth to put the Green Terror away, 9-2.
McKenna had a nice day at the dish, going 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and a walk. McKenna's triple was the only extra-base hit of the game for McDaniel, as the Green Terror were held to just three hits in the loss.
Freshman
Kurtis MacKenzie took the loss, allowing six runs and walking two batters in three innings of work. Sophomore
Dominic DiBlasi and freshman
Maximus Mullins each pitched three innings in relief, with Mullins earning three strikeouts facing 14 batters.
The Green Terror conclude a seven-game homestand on Sunday when they host Notre Dame (MD) for a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12 pm from Preston Field.
