Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Fritz, Bunce Lead Men's Lacrosse to Second-Straight Road Win

IMMACULATA, Pa. - For the second-straight game, the McDaniel College men's lacrosse team scored the final four goals to claim a non-conference victory on the road, defeating Immaculata 13-8 Tuesday at Draper Walsh Stadium.

The Green Terror (3-4) posted their third win in three all-time meetings against the Mighty Macs and their first in two road meetings after an 18-4 victory on Feb. 22, 2017.

Senior Jason Fritz totaled six points with three goals and three assists while junior TJ Bunce won 15 face-offs and picked up 11 ground balls, both career highs.

For his career, Fritz now has 89 goals and 88 assists for 177 points. He would be the 15th player in program history to score 100 goals, the ninth to amass 100 assists, and just the sixth to total 100 goals and 100 assists.

McDaniel scored four of the game's first five goals, including two from junior Will Beacham, to take a 4-1 lead with 8:49 remaining in the first quarter and led 4-3 after one.

The visitors added two more to start the second and push their lead back to three before Immaculata (3-4) answered with two of their own to pull within one at halftime, 6-5.

The Green Terror totaled 22 first-half shots, including 15 in the first quarter, but held a one-goal lead after Matthew Ludlow made nine saves for the Mighty Macs, eight of which came in the opening 15 minutes.

McDaniel scored the first three goals of the third quarter, including two from Fritz, to take its largest lead at 9-5 with 5:42 left.

Nevertheless, the hosts once again answered, matching those three goals with three of their own to cut their deficit back to one for the third time with 12:02 to play in the fourth.

However, just like they did against Chatham on Saturday, the Green Terror closed out the game scoring the final four goals. The first two came from sophomore Carter Youtz and Beacham who completed their hat tricks just over one minute apart before graduate student Nick Wingo and sophomore Cash Stanton provided the last two for the final margin.

Youtz finished with three goals and four points while sophomore Aidan Skelly totaled four assists. Beacham had three goals and Wingo had three points with two goals and one assist.

Bunce won 15-of-24 face-offs while sophomore Leo Hale had two ground balls and three caused turnovers. Junior Finn Forcucci had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

In goal, sophomore Zach Olvey had 10 saves, his fifth game out of seven this season with at least 10.

McDaniel continues its four-game road trip next Tuesday, March 18 when it heads to Hackettstown, NJ to take on Centenary. Face-off is at 4 p.m.
