WESTMINSTER, Md. - Junior
Elaina Beckett scored a season-high 26 points to lead the McDaniel College women's basketball team in a 68-52 loss to No. 13 Gettysburg Wednesday night on Rebecca L. Martin Court.
Despite the loss, the Green Terror (16-8, 7-6 CC) secured a spot in next week's Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Championship after Muhlenberg's 66-55 loss at home versus Ursinus.
It marks the first Centennial Conference tournament appearance for McDaniel since 2016. That year, the team advanced to the championship game before falling to host Muhlenberg.
As for Wednesday, Beckett was the lone scorer in double figures for the Green Terror. She made 9-of-13 shots from the floor, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. She also made 4-of-6 free throws and led the team with seven rebounds.

Lauren Cavoli scored seven points and dished out four assists while sophomore
Teya McConnaha finished with seven points and six rebounds and sophomore
Raegan Lenz had six rebounds and a team-high five assists.
McDaniel started the contest strong, ending the first quarter with a 17-15 lead, outscoring its opponent in the first quarter for the 20th time in 24 games this season.
The Bullets (22-2, 11-1 CC) began to pull away in the second thanks to a 12-0 run midway through the period. McDaniel cut the deficit to six just before the break on a Beckett three-pointer, but the visitors nailed two free throws with three seconds left to take a 39-31 halftime lead.
The Green Terror pulled back within striking distance in the third. They trailed by 12 with 5:43 remaining, but cut their deficit to three by quarter's end. However, Gettysburg secured the win with a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring McDaniel 16-3 over the final 10 minutes.
Turnovers proved to be the difference as the Bullets scored 33 points off 23 Green Terror turnovers, eight of which came in the fourth quarter as the visitors ended the game on an 11-0 run.
McDaniel hosts the aforementioned Muhlenberg on Saturday in its final regular season home game. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
