Volleyball Closes Road Slate with 3-0 Loss at Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. – The McDaniel College volleyball team wrapped up its road schedule with a 3-0 loss to conference rival Dickinson on Wednesday night.

The Green Terror (9-15, 1-8) used a 4-0 run in the first set to take an 18-12 lead over the Red Devils (17-10, 5-4), but Dickinson responded with a 13-1 run to close the set and take a 25-19 win in the opener.

McDaniel took advantage of early errors in set two to grab the lead, but the Red Devils fought back to grow the leas to six. Following a kill from sophomore Stephanie Buttons to make the score 17-12, Dickinson used a 5-0 run to expand the lead to ten and won by a 25-15 margin to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

An early kill from sophomore Sydney Turner kept the visitors within three at the start of the third set, but the Red Devils rallied with nine consecutive points to take control of the set. Late kills from senior Kailey Young couldn't mount a comeback effort as the visitors fell 25-10 to complete the sweep.

Young's six kills were a team-high while junior Abigayle Bowley and first year Kaitlyn Saidat tied for second with five each. Sophomore Kaylee Comstock had 11 assists while junior Reese Beck had 10 digs defensively.

The Green Terror will conclude the season with a Senior Day tri-match against Ursinus and Trinity Washington on Saturday. The first match will begin at 11:30 am.
