Trio Leads Women's Basketball to Sixth-Straight Win, 73-38

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The trio of senior Elaina Beckett, junior Teya McConnaha, and sophomore Lauren Cavoli led the McDaniel College women's basketball team to a 73-38 victory over Eastern Saturday on Rebecca L. Martin Court.

Off to their best start since the 2014-15 season, the Green Terror (6-0) continue to work their way closer to that team that began the year with nine-straight wins en route to a 24-4 overall record.

Five of those six wins have come at home for McDaniel who continued to receive votes in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 on Nov. 18. The team has won six in-a-row at home overall, dating back to a 77-51 victory over Muhlenberg last season on Feb. 22, 2025.

Beckett posted her second 30-point game this season and the third of her career with 30 points to go along with 10 rebounds, six assists, and seven steals. She is currently averaging 24.8 points per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor.

Beckett now has 1,152 points in 76 career games, moving her past Erin Murphey '98 and Ali Moreland '10 into 12th on the program's all-time scoring list.

McConnaha finished ith 16 points and four rebounds on 8-of-16 shooting while Cavoli added 12 points, four rebounds, and six steals.

The trio of Beckett, McConnaha, and Cavoli totaled 58 points, 18 rebounds, eight assists, and 14 steals. They also shot 50.0 percent from the floor, hitting 27-of-54 attempts.

The Green Terror scored 50 points in the paint and 35 off turnovers. Through six games, they are averaging 38.7 points in the paint and 27.3 off turnovers. They are outscoring their opponents by an average of 26.2 points per game.

McDaniel alo continues to get off to a good start. On Saturday, it outscored the Eagles 16-3 in the first 10 minutes and never trailed. The Green Terror have outscored their opponents 117-53 in the opening quarter this season, holding them to single digits, four times.

Beckett, McConnaha, and Cavoli combined to score all 16 of the team's first-quarter points on Saturday.

McDaniel led 24-3 in the second before Eastern (2-4) cut it deficit to 12 at the half, 31-19.

The Eagles opened the second half by scoring seven of the first nine points to trim the lead to seven with 6:07 remaining in the third quarter, but that would be as close as they would get as the Green Terror scored the final 13 points to push their lead back to 20 after three, 46-26.

Led by 20 points from Beckett, McConnaha, and Cavoli, McDaniel outscored the visitors 27-12 in the fourth.

Junior Raegan Lenz finished with four points, three rebounds, six assists, two steals, and three blocks in just 21 minutes while sophomore Kendra Mason added five points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

McDaniel returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts its second-straight opponent from the Middle Atlantic Conference in Alvernia. Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
