McDaniel Scores Two Fourth-Quarter Goals in Loss to Shorewomen

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Junior Kelsey Jennings and sophomore Charley Noah scored goals in the fourth quarter as the McDaniel College field hockey team fell at home 4-2 to conference rival Washington College on Wednesday night.

Noah's goal at the 51-minute mark gave her seven for the season, the most for a Green Terror (4-7, 0-3) player in a season since Megan Quattrone scored 12 goals back in 2018.

Jennings scored her third goal of the season just two minutes into the fourth on an assist from senior Julia Dean. Jennings scored after Dean's shot on a penalty corner was blocked, putting McDaniel on the board for the first time in the contest.

The Shorewomen (5-7, 2-2) scored just over four minutes into the match to take an early 1-0 lead. Washington College then scored twice in a three-minute span to increase the lead to 3-0 at halftime, with the Shorewomen taking 15 shots in the first half compared to five for McDaniel.

A goal less than two minutes into the third period grew the Washington College lead to four, but the Green Terror outshot the Shorewomen in the quarter, 3-1. Jennings and Noah each found the back of the net to put two goals on the board for the team's first multi-goal game since a 4-1 win over Wilson on Sept. 17.

The Green Terror totaled 11 shots in the contest compared to 21 for the Shorewomen. Noah led the team with five shots and two on goal while Jennings and sophomore Anna Buyse each had two shots and a single shot on goal.

McDaniel continues a two-game homestand on Saturday when conference foe Bryn Mawr comes to town. The match will begin at 1pm from Gill Stadium.
