SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Junior
Tate Roth had five saves as the McDaniel College men's soccer team battled Swarthmore to a scoreless draw on Saturday at Clothier Field.
The Green Terror (7-1-2, 1-1-2 CC), ranked fifth in the United Soccer Coaches Region V rankings, posted their seventh shutout in 10 games this season, including second in four Centennial Conference contests.
Roth's five saves were a season-high, equaling his output in a 1-1 tie at Washington College to open conference play on September 20. He also earned his sixth shutout in 10 starts this season, raising his career total to 17 in 30 games started.
Roth totaled three of his shots in the first half as the Garnet (3-2-5, 0-1-3 CC) out-shot the visitors, 7-0. They also recorded the only two corner kicks.
McDaniel evened things up in the second half, registering five shots to seven more for Swarthmore while holding a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior

Eyuel Reta recorded both shots on goal for the Green Terror while Roth added two more saves.
Roth faced 14 shots, but the McDaniel defense limited the Garnet to just five on goal.
The Green Terror are 2-1-1 in their last four games against Swarthmore and unbeaten in the last two. Prior to Saturday's draw, McDaniel had lost nine-straight on the road in the series dating back to a scoreless tie on Oct. 23, 2004.
The Green Terror step out of conference play on Tuesday when it makes the short trip to Frederick, Md. to take on Hood. Kickoff with the Blazers is at 5 p.m.
