WESTMINSTER, Md. – Senior
Kailey Young totaled 10 kills to lead the McDaniel College volleyball team in a 3-0 loss to Centennial Conference rival Gettysburg on Wednesday inside the Gill Center.
Young's 10 kills marked a season-high against conference opponents for the Green Terror (9-13, 1-6). She bested her previous high of nine set against Swarthmore on Oct. 24 and Bryn Mawr on Oct. 18.
The Bullets (16-8, 5-2) doubled up the Green Terror midway through the opener, leading 16-8. McDaniel climbed back into the contest late with three straight points, two of which were kills from Young and first year
Mariya Carson. The Bullets held off the rally to take the first set, 25-17.
The Green Terror started strong in the second, opening with a 6-4 lead early following an attack error. The Bullets would soon retake the lead and extend their advantage to double digits, winning 25-13 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
An ace from sophomore
Stephanie Buttons and another Young kill started set three on a high note for the home team, but Gettysburg responded and erased an early 6-5 deficit. After a kill from first year
Kaitlyn Saidat cut the Bullet lead to three, the visitors ripped off six straight points and ended the set on a 14-1 run to seal the 25-9 win and the sweep.
Young's 10 kills led the team while Buttons and Carson tied for second with five each. Sophomore
Kaylee Comstock had 18 assists while senior
Samantha Fadel had a team-high 13 digs.

The Green Terror travel to Muhlenberg on Saturday to face the conference rival Mules. The match is set to begin at 1 pm.
