Jayda Washburn scored her first career goal off an assist from graduate student
Justice Washburn as the McDaniel College field hockey fell at No. 12 Dickinson Wednesday, 6-1.
The game marked the fifth opponent who is currently ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Coaches Poll for the Green Terror (5-12, 1-8 CC).
The Devils (15-2, 7-2 CC) took an early 1-0 lead with a goal just 43 seconds into the game before McDaniel tied it at the end of the quarter on the third of three consecutive penalty corners.
After time had expired, Justice inserted the corner to Washburn who sent it into the back of the cage tie the game at 1-1 after one.
The goal marked the first time in 17 games together that the sisters connected on a scoring play. Justice has spent the last three seasons with the Green Terror after transferring from Lebanon Valley while this marks Jayda's fourth season at McDaniel. Jayda missed the 2023 and 2024 seasons due to injury.
The game remained tied at 1-1 until Dickinson added its second goal with 2:55 remaining in the second quarter to take a 2-1 halftime lead.
The Devils recorded all seven shots in the second quarter after holding a slim 3-2 edge in the first.
However, the home team scored three goals in the third in a span of just 2:32 to take a commanding 5-1 lead into the fourth. The took all eight shots in the third, out-shooting the visitors 15-0 and scoring four times over the second and third quarters combined.
The Devils added their final tally with just over three minutes left in the game, scoring on their only shot of the fourth quarter.

McDaniel concludes its 2025 season at home on Saturday when it hosts Ursinus on Senior Day at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the team will honor four individuals, including both Washburn sisters,
Cassidy Cashman and
Julia Dean.
