Buyse’s Career-High Leads Field Hockey in Loss to Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Anna Buyse took a career-high five shots and four on goal to lead the McDaniel College field hockey team in a 5-0 road loss to Muhlenberg on Friday night.

Buyse bested her previous career-high of three shots set against Meredith on Sept. 7, 2025. She joins sophomore Charley Noah as the only two players to attempt at least five shots in a game this season for the Green Terror (5-11, 1-7).

The Mules (6-10, 2-6) started the contest on a blistering pace, attempting six shots in the first four minutes of play. Three of those shots were blocked while one was saved by junior Lora Scarangello. Junior Kelsey Jennings took the first shot of the night for McDaniel just under the seven-minute mark and Buyse followed with her first shot moments later. Muhlenberg struck first at the 13:23 mark of the first quarter to take a 1-0 lead.

The Mules tacked on their second goal just two minutes into the second quarter and scored goal number three at the 26-minute mark to take a 3-0 lead into intermission.

After a scoreless third period, both teams combined for 14 shots and eight penalty corners in a fast-paced fourth quarter. Following a shot from sophomore Summer Gregory, the Mules struck again just under a minute later to increase their lead to four. Shots from Noah, Jennings and Buyse all missed over the next two minutes and change, leading to one final Muhlenberg goal with just over five minutes left to play.

Buyse finished with a team-high five shots and four shots on goal while Jennings and Noah each took two and Gregory and first year Caydence Stone each taking one. Scarangello played all 60 minutes in goal and collected seven saves on 24 shots faced, 12 of which were on goal.

The Green Terror face off against Dickinson on Wednesday in the team's final road match of the season. The match will begin at 4 pm.
