Women's Soccer Falls at Regionally-Ranked Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Maci Landel had a hand in all three goals as Mary Washington posted a 3-0 victory over the McDaniel College women's soccer team on Wednesday at Roy Gordon Field.

The Green Terror (5-7-4) fell for just the third time in eight road games this season while the Eagles remained unbeaten in seven home games, improving to 6-0-1.

The game marked the first match-up between the two teams in Fredericksburg since Sept. 4, 2009. Mary Washington is currently ranked fourth in the United Soccer Coaches Region VI rankings.

Landel scored her team-leading seventh and eighth goals of the season while assisting on the Eagles' third and final goal. She opened the scoring in the 25th minute on an assist from Madison Bauserman to give Mary Washington a 1-0 halftime lead.

The Eagles (11-2-3) out-shot McDaniel 15-2, including 11-2 in the first half, but were limited to just one goal. Sophomore Mack Langlo had two first-half saves while the Green Terror registered a team save on a shot by Landel in the 17th minute. The defense also recorded one blocked shot in the opening 45 minutes.

Junior Alexis Keller-Posen and first-year Addie Rice each recorded a shot on goal for the visitors in the first half.

Mary Washington had four shots in the second half, adding two more goals in the 82nd minute just 45 seconds apart. Landel scored her second of the game at 81:11 before assisting Ellen Shine at 81:56.

After missing the last three games due to injury, first-year Sierra Ruehl made her first appearance since Oct. 8 and played the entire second half while making one save.

McDaniel wraps up its three-game road trip on Saturday with a Centennial Conference contest against Dickinson. With two games remaining, the Green Terror are just two points out of the sixth and final spot in the 2025 Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Championship. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
