WESTMINSTER, Md. – A 6-1 run at the end of the second set gave the McDaniel College volleyball team a 25-21 win to highlight a 3-1 home loss against Washington College on Wednesday from the Gill Center.
The Green Terror (8-10, 0-3) fought back from an early deficit to take the second set after late kills from senior
Kailey Young and a service ace from senior
Samantha Fadel sealed the win late.
The Shorewomen (17-5, 3-1) took a 10-6 lead early in the first set and eventually grew the lead to 10, taking the opener by the final tally of 25-16.
Set two saw Washington College take another early lead before the Green Terror fought back into the contest, tying the set at 15-15 following an attack error. After three straight points by the visitors broke the tie, McDaniel answered by scoring four straight, highlighted by three consecutive service aces from sophomore
Kaylee Comstock. Washington College took a slim 22-20 lead before the Green Terror rattled off six of the next seven points to complete the comeback and win 25-21.
After another ace from Fadel gave McDaniel a 3-1 lead to start set three, the Shorewomen scored five straight and escaped another Green Terror rally with a late run to take a 2-1 lead with a 25-19 win. McDaniel stayed within striking distance in set four, trailing only by two before a 7-1 run by Washington College helped the visitors pull away for a 25-17 match-clinching victory.

Mariya Carson led the Green Terror with nine kills on 25 swings while Young and junior
Abigayle Bowleyfinished tied for second with eight kills each. Comstock and sophomore
Cassy Poteet combined for 31 assists while Comstock finished with six aces, just one shy of tying her career high.
The Green Terror wrap up a two-match homestand on Saturday with a Centennial Conference showdown against Bryn Mawr. The match will begin at 1 pm.
