BALTIMORE, Md. - Junior
Lora Scarangello tied her career-high by recording 11 saves in an 8-0 loss for the McDaniel College field hockey team to No. 2 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday night.
The Green Terror (5-8, 1-4 CC) faced their third conference opponent this season who was or is currently ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Coaches Poll this season (Franklin & Marshall, Haverford, Johns Hopkins).
Scarangello matched her career-best mark from Sept. 23, 2023 when she also had 11 saves against Swarthmore.
Scarangello saved four of the first five shots she faced until the sixth shot of the first quarter found the back of the net for the Blue Jays who would score again later in the opening frame.
Johns Hopkins (12-1, 6-0 CC) missed on its first four shots of the second, the last being a defensive save for graduate student
Justice Washburn for the team's first defensive save of the season.
After another goal in the 23rd minute, three more Johns Hopkins shot missed wide of the net to keep the score 3-0 at intermission.
Scarangello totaled three more saves to begin the third quarter before the Blue Jays scored three goals in a five-minute span. Johns Hopkins tacked on a fourth goal of the quarter with just over a minute remaining.
Sophomore
Teaghen Rieder took over in the cage to start the fourth quarter and totaled three saves in the final frame. Sophomore

The game was the team's first with multiple defensive saves since a home conference contest with Franklin & Marshall on Oct. 30, 2024.
McDaniel concludes a two-game road trip on Saturday when it faces off against conference rival Swarthmore. Game time is at 4 p.m.
