Women's Soccer Edged by Muhlenberg on Senior Day

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Muhlenberg scored the game's lone goal in the 29th minute and held off the McDaniel College women's soccer team en route to a 1-0 victory Saturday at the Soccer Complex on Senior Day.

The Green Terror (4-5-4, 1-3-2 CC) held a 10-7 margin in shots and a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks, but the Mules escaped with the win after stopping both shots on goal while a third McDaniel shot hit the crossbar.

Dani Klingener had a save in each half for the visitors while a shot by sophomore Gabriella Piantadosi, who had the game-tying goal at Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday, hit the crossbar in the 81st minute.

The Green Terror suffered their first loss of the season when out-shooting their opponent, falling to 3-1-1. It was the first time the team out-shot its opponent in the last seven games.

McDaniel recorded the game's first five shots in the opening eight minutes before Muhlenberg (4-8-1, 1-4-0 CC) responded with the next four. The visitors found the back of the net on their fourth attempt and second on goal when Anna May scored her second goal of the season off an assist by Kaylie Thran.

Sophomore Mack Langlo finished with two saves for the Green Terror.

Prior to the game, the Green Terror recognized its four seniors in Hannah Bird, Abby Witzel, Sarah Hurley, and Bayleigh Perdue. Over the last four seasons, the group has helped the team go unbeaten in 53 of its 73 games while winning over 60 percent of its games. They have been a part of three Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Championship semifinal and two NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship second round appearances.

McDaniel hosts Washington College in the second-to-last home game of the season on Wednesday. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.
