BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Senior Jack Sears was the top collegiate finisher at the Jack St. Clair Memorial to lead the McDaniel College men's cross country team on Saturday at Belmont Plateau.
The Green Terror finished fifth out of eight teams, totaling 120 points. The Philadelphia Runner Track Club took first with 22 points as it placed five runners in the top seven. Division II Thomas Jefferson University was the top collegiate team with 56 points and five runners in the top 20, including four in the top 10.
Sears clocked in with a time of 26:45.08 to set a new program course record for the second-straight race. He surpassed the previous record, set 47 years ago by Rollin Briggs, by 16 seconds. Sears was the top collegiate finisher in the race, placing second overall behind Marc Steinsberger of the Philadelphia Runner Track Club.
First-year Isaac Greeson placed 30th with a time of 30:09.59 while classmate Sam Favazza was 45th with a time of 31:57.65. Senior Ethan Bush crossed the line in 46th at 32:01.81 while senior Simon Greenberg rounded out the scorers for McDaniel in 67th place at 37:38.31.
The Green Terror return to action on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational hosted by Gettysburg. The meet will serve as Senior Day.
