COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior
Grayson Wendel had six catches for 101 yards as the McDaniel College football team dropped a Centennial Conference road contest at Ursinus Saturday, 52-0.
The Green Terror (1-4, 0-2 CC) faced the Bears on the road at Patterson Field for the third time in the last four seasons.
Sophomore
Jayden Booker drove McDaniel 41 yards on the opening drive of the game before an interception led to a 60-yard touchdown pass for Ursinus.
The Bears (4-1, 1-1 CC) cashed in on another long touchdown to start the second quarter, scoring on a 65-yard pass play to go ahead 21-0.
Booker connected on a 22-yard completion to
Wendel and engineered a drive to the Ursinus 34-yard line before a fumble gave the ball back to the Bears.
The Green Terror defense forced a three-and-out, but Ursinus would add another score before the half on a 30-yard interception return to take a 28-0 halftime lead.
Two short touchdown runs added 14 more points for the Bears in the third quarter before they tacked on 10 more in the fourth to provide the final margin.
Senior
Logan Marsh added four catches for 37 yards while Booker completed 12-of-30 passes for 155 yards, but was intercepted four times.
Graduate student
Malachi Murphy had a 30-yard interception return in the loss as the defense totaled three sacks and one takeaway.
Ursinus forced five turnovers and seven punts, holding the Green Terror to 181 yards of total offense.
McDaniel returns home for the first time since Sept. 20 to open a two-game home stand next Saturday, Oct. 18 versus Muhlenberg. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. inside Gill Stadium.
