Beckett Leads McDaniel to Win in First Meeting With Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. - Junior Elaina Beckett scored a season-high 25 points to lead the McDaniel College women's basketball team to a 61-50 road win over Salisbury Wednesday night at Maggs Physical Activities Center.

The Green Terror (10-3) picked up their 10th win in their 13th win season, matching their best start since the 2015-16 season. That year, the team started 10-3 en route to 21 wins and an appearance in the Centennial Conference championship game.

Beckett posted her fourth 20-point game this season and the 11th of her career, going 12-for-20 from the floor while adding eight rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks. Sophomore Raegan Lenz totaled 13 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five blocks.

Lenz now has 37 blocks this season, the most by a player since Emma Wingerd had 48 during the 2011-12 season. Lenz now has 55 career blocks to rank 13th in program history, just five shy of moving into the top-10.

McDaniel never trailed and led 20-8 after the first quarter with Beckett and Lenz combining for 11 points and seven rebounds. The Green Terror limited the Sea Gulls to just three field goals and two made free throws while holding a 14-7 advantage in rebounds.

Salisbury (8-7) trimmed the lead to seven late in the second before Beckett scored the final six points to give the visitors a 32-19 lead at the half. Beckett scored eight of the team's 12 second-quarter points, finishing the first half with 13 on 6-of-10 shooting to go along with six rebounds.

Lenz had eight points, three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in the first 20 minutes.

McDaniel scored 15 of the first 19 points of the third quarter to take its largest lead of the game at 24 points, 47-23 with 4:44 remaining.

Sophomore Ally Mathias totaled six points and four rebounds in the fourth quarter as the visitors never let the lead slip below 11.

Sophomore Teya McConnaha finished with eight points and seven rebounds while sophomore Caroline Barbalato had five points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals in her fourth start this season.

The Green Terror head to Lancaster, Pa. on Saturday for a Centennial Conference contest at Franklin & Marshall. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
