WESTMINSTER, Md. - Trevor Wall hit the second of two free throws with six seconds remaining to give Ursinus a one-point, come-from-behind victory over the McDaniel College men's basketball team Saturday inside the Gill Center, 62-61.
The Green Terror (11-5, 1-4 CC) lost at home for the first time since Jan. 27, 2024, snapping a nine-game win streak.
Graduate student
Chuck Contee led the way with 13 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. He now has 979 career points as he looks to become the 19th player in program history to score 1,000.
Junior
David Kearney added 12 points, three rebounds and two steals while junior
Jonas Sujeta added 11 points, two rebounds and two blocks.
McDaniel took its largest lead of the game at eight points following a three-point play by junior
Mikey Ayala Jr with 9:38 remaining. However, a 10-0 run by the Bears a 57-55 lead with less than six minutes remaining. Wall scored six of his game-high 20 points during the run.
The game featured nine ties and nine lead changes and the Green Terror found themselves back in front, 58-57 after a three-pointer by Sujeta with 4:07 to play.
Four-straight points by Ursinus (11-6, 4-1 CC) put the visitors in front by two before a jumper by Kearney tied the game for the ninth and final time, 61-61 with 31 seconds remaining.
Wall drew a foul with six seconds remaining, and after missing the first, hit the second to put the visitors in front by one. Needing a basket to extend its home win streak to 10, McDaniel missed a three-pointer with less than two seconds to play and its tip-in attempt at the buzzer was off the mark, allowing the Bears to escape with the win.
The Green Terror scored 22 points off 13 Ursinus turnovers while the Bears scored over half of their points, 38, in the paint. The visitors also shot 61.0 percent from the floor, making 25-of- 41 attempts.
McDaniel travels to Gettysburg on Wednesday looking to snap an eight-game road losing streak against the Bullets. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
