WESTMINSTER, Md. – 11 players scored points for the McDaniel College Women's Basketball team in a 67-47 home win over Mount Aloysius on Thursday night.
Junior
Elaina Beckett scored a team-high 15 points in just 21 minutes of action, making 5-of-10 shots from the floor. Senior
Lil Overcash nailed a trio of three-pointers en route to 10 points. Sophomore
Carli Vogel chipped in with eight points off the bench, while sophomore starters
Raegan Lenz and
Teya McConnaha scored six each. Sophomore
Kennadi Johnson connected on two three-pointers in 11 minutes of game time. Senior
Jessica Weinoldt snagged five rebounds and two steals in a strong defensive effort.
The Green Terror (9-3) continued a string of strong first quarter performances with a 23-point outburst in the opening frame. Early baskets from Overcash, Beckett and McConnaha punctuated a 10-2 run to start the contest. McDaniel responded to a three by the Mounties (6-5) with a 13-0 run over the rest of the quarter. Beckett hit three triples in the final 2:54 of the period, giving her 13 of her team-high 15 points. The 23 first quarter points tied a season-high for the Green Terror, set against Geneva on Nov. 9.

Lily Hines pushed McDaniel's lead to 24 with 8:22 to play in the second quarter. A jumper from freshman
Kendra Mason gave the Green Terror its largest lead of the first half, making the score 35-9 with 4:41 remaining. The Mounties fought back in the final minutes of the quarter but couldn't get closer than 21 points, with McDaniel taking a 41-19 lead into halftime.
The Green Terror opened the scoring in the third quarter but Mount Aloysius battled back with a 7-2 run at the 4:45 mark. Mason connected on a three with 1:08 left in the quarter to grow the McDaniel lead to 27. Johnson responded with another three with 8:13 to play in the fourth quarter to push the lead to 28, McDaniel's largest lead of the game. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch, as the Green Terror maintained a 20-point cushion for the rest of the contest.
The McDaniel bench made major contributions with 30 points, while the defense forced 23 Mountie turnovers. The Green Terror also recorded nine blocks, with six coming from Lenz. McDaniel made 10 three-pointers and tallied 20 assists, while all 16 of the team's players got at least four minutes of playing time.
The Green Terror begin a two-game road trip on Jan. 8 when they travel to Salisbury to face the Sea Gulls. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 pm.
