McDaniel Earns First Conference Win, Stays Unbeaten at Home

WESTMINSTER, Md. - A strong second half effort carried the McDaniel College men's basketball team to its first Centennial Conference victory of the season Wednesday, 65-58 over Dickinson inside the Gill Center.

The Green Terror (11-3, 1-1 CC) remained unbeaten in six games at home this season, extending their home win streak to nine dating back to a 58-45 victory over Dickinson on Jan. 31, 2024.

It was also the 195th career win for head coach Kevin Curley.

Graduate student Chuck Contee led the team with a game-high 23 points, his fourth 20-point game this season. McDaniel is 4-0 when he scores at least 20 points. For his career, he now has 947 points as he looks to become the 19th player in program history to score 1,000 points.

Senior Russell Dandridge added nine points, five rebounds and three assists while junior Kevin Connelly had nine points and four rebounds. Senior Lorin Hall added eight points, all of which came in the second half as Contee, Dandridge, Connelly, and Hall combined for 36 of the team's 40 points.

Contee scored 14 points in the second half as the Green Terror took the lead just 14 seconds in and trailed for just 48 seconds the rest of the way.

Holding a two-point lead with 14:43 remaining, McDaniel used a 12-4 run to take its largest lead of the game at 10 points, 44-34 with 6:54 to play. Contee scored eight points during the run while Dandridge added four.

The Red Devils (6-8, 1-1 CC) pulled within four with four with 34 seconds left, but the Green Terror sealed the win by making 7-of-8 free throw attempts in the final 28 seconds.

McDaniel begins a tough two-game stretch on the road Saturday when it heads to Swarthmore. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
