SALISBURY, Md. - The McDaniel College women's soccer team posted its third shutout in four games this season while freshman
Katy Hammer scored her first career goal in a 1-0 win over Salisbury in the final game of the Salisbury University Classic Sunday.
Unbeaten in four games this season, the Green Terror (3-0-1) are off to their best start since 2021 when they started the season 4-0-0 en route to winning the program's first Centennial Conference championship.
The meeting between the two in-state rivals was just the third since 1994 and marked McDaniel's first win. The series is now tied, 1-1-1.
Despite holding a 14-9 edge in shots and a 6-3 margin in corner kicks, the Green Terror were held at bay by the Sea Gulls' Riley Pinato who stopped all four shots on goal she faced until the 81st minute when Hammer found the back of the net off an assist from senior
Madyson Hill.
Hammer is the 11th different player to record a point for McDaniel through its first four games. Hill leads that group with a career-high seven points, having scored aat least one point in three games.
Defensively, the Green Terror have allowed just one goal in 360 minutes this season, outscoring its opponents, 8-1. Senior
Lauren Hoolahan picked up her second shutout on Sunday, tying her season-high with fives saves, the last of which came in the 87th minute to preserve the win.

McDaniel travels to No. 3 Messiah on Wednesday. The Green Terror have won two of the last three meetings with the Falcons, including a 1-0 decision a year ago at home on Sept. 13, 2023.
