Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 13 McDaniel Drops First Game of the Season at Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa - Messiah scored a one goal in each half to hand the No. 13 McDaniel College women's soccer team its first loss of the season, 2-0 Wednesday at Shoemaker Field.

The Green Terror (3-1-1), who have won two in-a-row at home in the series, have yet to win on the road in Grantham, falling to 0-7. Meanwhile, the last five meetings between the top two ranked teams in Region V, have come by two goals or less.

The Falcons (1-0-3), who are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Poll, scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 24th minute when Hannah Adair netted her first goal of the season of an assist from Bailie Dull.

Messiah totaled a 12-0 edge in shots in the first half while earning the only two corner kicks.

The Falcons added an insurance tally on their second shot of the second half in the 52nd minute when Kaitlyn Laird scored her first goal of the year on a pass from Mia Libby.

Messiah totaled the first 15 shots in the contest, holding the visitors without a shot until the 66th minute when senior Madyson Hill sent one on goal from the top right of the box that was saved by Ava Wert.

Wert's counterpart, senior Lauren Hoolahan, finished with a season-high seven saves, four of which came in the first half.

McDaniel returns to action next Wednesday, Sept. 18 when it hosts Penn State Harrisburg at the Soccer Complex beginning at 4 p.m.
