WESTMINSTER, Md. - Sophomore
Charlie Olson had one goal and one assist to lead the McDaniel College men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Wilson in the team's home opener Wednesday at the Soccer Complex.
The Green Terror (1-1) have won all three meetings against the Phoenix and extended their unbeaten streak in home openers to three.
Olson totaled a career-high three points, including his third career game-winning goal in the sixth minute off an assist from freshmanÂ
Jack Guerrera. It was Wilson's second goal in as many games this season and Guerrera's first career point.
Just one minute and 20 seconds later, Olson picked up his first assist of the season when he found sophomore
Parks Tolton in front to double the lead.
McDaniel out-shot Wilson 11-5 in the first half and took its two-goal lead into halftime.
The Green Terror maintained the pressure in the second half, holding an 8-2 advantage in shots and adding two more goals from junior
AJ Nordone and senior
Brandon Morse.
Guerrera finished with two assists.
Defensively, McDaniel limited the Phoenix (0-3) to just seven shots, including two in the second half. Freshman
Tate Roth made his first career start in goal, totaling two saves to earn his first career shutout. As a team, the Green Terror have totaled six shutouts in the last two seasons.
McDaniel hits the road for the second time in three games this season when it makes the short trip to Goucher on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against the Gophers.
