FREDERICK, Md. - Hood scored three first-half goals en route to a 3-0 victory over the McDaniel College field hockey team Wednesday at Thomas Athletic Field.

The Green Terror (1-2) were out-shot 16-5 over the first three quarters in the third-straight meeting between the two.

Morgan Hackett scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 1:47 into the contest when she scored off an assist from Bianca Scally to put the Blazers in front quickly, 1-0.

Hood (1-0) scored two goals less than four minutes apart midway through the second quarter as it posted its second consecutive win in the series. The Blazers have outscored their in-state rival 4-0 in the last two meetings in 2023 and 2024.

In addition to holding a plus-9 advantage in shots over the first three quarters, Hood held a 10-2 margin in penalty corners.

Sophomore Lora Scarangello made her first start of the season in goal, making seven saves, all of which came in the first three quarters. She started all 17 of the team's games a year ago and played all 1,041 minutes.

Senior Morgan Collins also recorded her sixth career defensive save.

McDaniel totaled all six shots and three penalty corners in the fourth quarter, but could not find the back of the cage as Grace Guy and Kindal Dais each had one save.

The Green Terror have a week off before returning to action next Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Stevenson.
